Day 2 weather was slightly more benign so we walked to Little Venice which I had never been to before. It is very beautiful and an oasis of calm in the busy city. We then followed Regents Canal as much as we could and into Regents Park. The sun was out, people were enjoying the flowers and the squirrels were playful.
> We spent the afternoon at the British Museum, focusing on the Parthenon Marbles, ancient Egyptian statues and Roman Britain. The latter was especially interesting in its descriptions of how various items were found and excavated, many within the last 30 years.

> We ended the day having a lovely evening with our niece, Fran, and her husband James. They have been living in London for the last 4 years or so and we haven't seen them in quite a while. We could have happily spent many more hours catching up with them but for the cafe closing, the need to catch the tube home and the fact that they needed to go to work today.#
