Back to Belgium- and Kampenhout cont.

Not sure why but the previous blog got chopped off when it posted. To continue with Kampenhout.
Nadine and Marc had prepared a beautiful dinner of typically Belgium food- a wonderful beef casserole cooked with beer, frites (fries), and vegetables. A chicory soup to start and chocolate muffins and berries for dessert. With Belgian beer (of which Lachlan has developed some knowledge and enjoyment) or wine. Fantastic.

>>> Breakfast on Sunday morning also followed a typical Belgian pattern. Apparently the custom is for Belgian men to go early to the bakery and buy fresh bread and pastries for the family. This is what we had, along with great coffee and fruit. Again delicious.
>>>
>>> We followed up with a leisurely stroll around the town, walking on paths which border cropping fields and agistement paddocks. The latter are now taking over the former small farms. We saw the schools Marc and Nadine had attended, the church and old age centre (one of the older buildings in town).
>>>
>>> The weather was sunny and mild so perfect for our walk. We finished up at a small local brewery where we had lunch. Very pleasant and relaxing. #
