The sun shone today, although still cold. So we went punting on the Cam river. Or at least we were punted. Along with tons of other people lured outside by the sun. It was really worth it. We got a potted history of the various colleges we passed, along with some scurrilous gossip and tales of student pranks.
Walked the two miles in a footpath (some of it boggy) to Grantchester. Again lots of other walkers and cyclists had the same idea. Our goal was the Orchard tea rooms made famous by Rupert Brooke, Virginia Woolf and others. I hankered for tea and scones eaten under the trees in the orchard. Lots of other people shared my hankering and the queue to be served was very long. So we went to a little pub which had lots of tables in the back garden and had cider, apple juice and sticky date pudding instead. Lovely sun, birds singing, blossom blooming... What's not to like?
Well- the two mile walk back! We are now resting our feet before we go out for tea.
While the weather today was a big improvement on yesterday, it was still quite cool. But the Brits are amazing. While I still have three layers on they are stripping off to get their vitamin D.
